The present study aims to evaluate novel drugs to treat Alzheimer’s disease-related memory impairment, the current study uses a Scopolamine mice model to assess the characteristics of Centratherum Anthelminticum. For seven days, mice were given 1 mg/kg (i.p.) of Scopolamine to cause memory impairment, and they also received an aqueous extract of Centratherum Anthelminticum. The T-maze and novel object recognition task were used in behavioural tests to evaluate learning and memory, while an open-field test was used to evaluate locomotion. The central cholinergic system was assessed by measuring the activity of the brain’s acetylcholinesterase enzyme (AChE). To assess the degree of oxidative stress, the levels of MDA, glutathione, and catalase activity were examined. In behavioural experiments, the administration of Scopolamine results in a reduction in learning and memory augmentation. There was also a discernible drop in the amount of time spent in the favored arm of the T-maze, exploring the new item, and using the discriminating index of the known object. AChE activity increased along with oxidative stress in mice, indicating a severe impairment of the central cholinergic system. Mice treated with varying dosages of Centratherum Anthelminticum showed improved mobility in the open field and dramatically improved memory in T-maze and new object recognition tests.Treatment with an aqueous extract of Centratherum Anthelminticum also reduces brain oxidative stress and AChE activity. It is found that giving mice an aqueous extract of Centratherum Anthelminticum improves their memory by lowering AChE activity and exhibiting antioxidant qualities. This may be turned into a cutting-edge treatment for Alzheimer’s disease-related memory impairment.
