Abstract:- The main aim of the study to find out the antimicrobial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Gyrocarpus asiaticus Willd and Lactuca runcinata DC. Methodology: The antimicrobial activity of hydroalcoholic etract of Gyrocarpus asiaticus Willd and Lactuca runcinata DC extract was performed against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, ,Pseudomonas auroginosa and Klebsiella pneumoni human pathogenic bacteria by agar disc diffusion method. Result: The hydroalcoholic extract of Gyrocarpus asiaticus Willd and Lactuca runcinata DC shows significant result against all pathogens. Among all pathogens, both plant shows higest zone of inhibition against E.coli 17.6 mm(0.4g/ml) for Gyrocarpus asiaticus Willd and 16.9 mm(0.4g/ml) for Lactuca runcinata DC with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) . Other than E.coli like P. mirabelis, P. auroginosa shows good zone of inhibition 13.8 mm and 17.4 mm (0.4g/ml) for Gyrocarpus asiaticus Willd 12.7 mm and 17.2 mm (0.4g/ml) for Lactuca runcinata DC with less minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.039 mg/ml and 0.032 mg/ml MBC values of 0.16 mg/ml and 0.12mg/ml for the above mention bacteria. But klebsiella sp was found to be resistant with no MIC, no MBC value and with a very less zone of inhibition of 6.4mm (0.4g/ml) and 5.3 mm (0.4g/ml) when compared with the standards Norfloxacin..
Conclusion: The hydroalcoholic extract of Gyrocarpus asiaticus WILLD and Lactuca runcinata DC shows significant antimicrobial activity
